I Want To Find My Personal Friends Quickly And Easily

Q. I want to find my personal friends quickly and easily on the Community Network. How can I do that?

A. One easy way to make a list of your personal friends is to start what we are calling a "Personal Group." Follow the instructions in the Can I create my own Group? Help File. Many of us have chosen to list our "Personal Groups" in the Person-to-Person Category. Name it whatever you want--it's your personal Group! Many of us will choose to make our "Personal Group" private--where people ask to join, and only participants can read the email messages. You don't have to, though--we always encourage open communication here.

Next, invite your friends and acquaintances to participate, by going to your home page and clicking Invite Members link next to the blue arrow at top right of the Group information. You can only invite 30 people per say, so if you are someone with many friends, you may have to do this a little at a time.

Some ideas: Here are some things you might want to consider doing with your "Personal Group." Feel free to share other ideas you have, and we'll include them.

  • List your personal contributions to the Community Network--the Book Reviews and Member Stories you've written, the favorite links and other useful things you have contributed.

  • List your favorite Community Network stories, links and other contributions from your friends and others, so you can find them easily--like your own "bookmarks" collection.

  • Use the Wiki space for a rudimentary "blog" or online personal journal. Rest assured only fellow LLL folks or your friends will be able to read it!

  • Send out birth announcements, holiday letters or other things you'd like to share with all your friends (but not irritating Internet forwards--we are sure you wouldn't do that!
